About Us

At the heart of Thompson Studios is multi award-winning photographer, Bob Thompson. From the moment he witnessed a vision come to life in his father’s dark room at the age of five, Bob has looked at the world through the eye of a lens.

No matter what he is photographing, Bob finds an artistic, out-of-the-norm angle or moment that manifests the vision. His intuitive reflexes and mastery of lighting effects has been integral to the marketing and advertising campaigns of many corporations, hospitals, and universities.

Bob photographs a mix of fine art, artistic portraiture, and commercial and advertising work for local, national, and international clientele. With his wife and business partner, Kimberly, they opened Thompson Studios in the Cory Lake Professional Center in January 2004.

Bob’s philosophy of photography is simple. “When I’m photographing people, my mission is to capture their pure essence, that extra spark that doesn’t happen by merely telling someone to smile. When people are relaxed and having fun it shows in the final image. I get people relaxed by having a great time myself, because hey, this is fun!”

Although Kim spent most of her childhood sketching, drawing, and painting using traditional mediums, she now prefers a digital palate. An accomplished digital artist, Kim enhances Bob’s photographs creating unique works of art.

While living in Europe for six years, Kim’s passion and understanding of art deepened while visiting the many museums, galleries, and historical sites throughout Germany, France, England, Italy, and the Netherlands.

It was during this time that Kim and Bob met in Germany as they served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a German Linguist…she was a Russian Linguist. Using Europe as their playground, they developed their love for travel, adventure, and photography.

Kim has been a member of the New Tampa Community Council and is the Marketing Director of the North Tampa Arts League.
